I have been trying several different ways to re-invent myself over the past several months. This has been a very interesting journey as I am listening to all kinds of people who state in very convincing terms that they have found the way to a new life for me. Every one of them have fallen short of showing me the way that really gets me excited and filled with hope.Consider books, courses, audio programs all a part of your grander learning process. Commit to finding ways to practice what you are learning, and to finding ways to receive feedback (from yourself and/or others) about your progress. And here I was with my very first project. A course for an online MBA class and the subject was strategic marketing. Ah! I am familiar with this subject, I thought to myself. Secretly, from the back door or my subconscious mind, anxiety had begun to creep in. I was hearing unfamiliar jargon and some wired acronyms - project lifecycle, mpp, SME, and many others that are now a part of my regular life so wouldn't remember. As I started my way into the project lifecycle, I enjoyed being creative, being the representative of the target audience, and advised the SME on how to make the content more learner centric, without really being formally aware of theory and the principles of Instructional Design.Who are you? I have two students that received just about the same feedback from me. I went into their answers, and carefully dissected where they had gone wrong - gave them more direction and the opportunity to take another cut at the assignment.Franchising is not a business in itself. It is a business strategy. It's a business system. That's a significant distinction that isn't always clear. McDonalds is in the fast food business - although many people feel they are really in the real estate business, while others think they're in the entertainment business. Regardless of that discussion, they are not in the business of Franchising. Schooley Mitchell Telecom online design consultant is in the business of telecom consulting. Ramada is in the business of operating properties. Snap-On Tools is in the business of selling tools.A wise man once said. "Investors don't like you, or your company. They don't care about your products. They just need to know how they are going to make money-or they'll get fired if they don't." And that wise man is Jimmy Treybig, partner at a venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates.Apply what you learn. It is never enough to just read, listen or participate in discussions. It is important for you to apply what you learn. Whenever you learn a new leadership skill, commit to implementing that skill daily until you become expert and proficient at it.Second, you must acknowledge the importance of trust. Without trust, everything takes much longer to do and to communicate and the results will always be less than satisfactory. When it comes to trust, the secret to earning people's trust is by trusting them. People follow the behaviors of others more than their words and so if you trust other people you are giving them the perfect example and incentive to trust you in return.12) The proper planner should make you experience like his/her only client. With out a doubt. You may possibly see that they are active, but you must often come to feel like best priority! Also, follow them on Facebook and Twitter to get some imaginative concepts! Great planners really like social media and put excellent things out there for YOU!online design consultant work on problems "for" their clients. A real estate coach guides their clients to see the problem and find ways that they can fix them on their own. After all, it is your business and not theirs.I never understood why I had such an aversion to and trouble with numbers and mathematics. I wasn't stupid, I was reading before the end of kindergarten and have been devouring the written word ever since. English and history were easy subjects as were any others based on language and not numbers. Over the years I just decided I was 'stupid in math', that math was 'just not logical'. Then one day I mentioned in an online forum that I felt I had some sort of dyslexia but with numbers and not letters. Bingo! The answer came; perhaps I had Dyscalculia. An extremely useful step in our Leadership Development is seeing myself as others see me. So I need to understand their perceptions of my behavior. My effectiveness in leading, relating to, or working with others is highly dependent on their perceptions of me. I may not agree with what they see, but their perception is our reality. Those around me have an opinion of who they think the real me is. Their perceived "truth" becomes the way they treat me. Their perception forms their part of the reality of our relationship.Invest in your Leadership Development. Books, podcasts and teaching videos cost a lot. But consider them as an investment, in which you will reap the benefits of greater effectiveness and efficiency in your leadership. And when you become a better leader, you can certainly lead people to greater heights and better performance. Doesn't that deserve a salary raise?
